#8-  Storage on RV

WHITEHOUSECA: 3 SIRS and RV

A few weeks ago,  I spoke of storage.  Amount of storage in a RV is important and becomes more important the longer your trips are from your home.  You may remember that the list of items to load in your RV I listed a few weeks ago requires space and organization.  You don't want to spend 30 minutes looking for something that you "know" is in the RV but you just can't remember where you stored it.  Some have a log which list everything and the location.  I find that is way too much effort.
We try to keep items together and located based on amount of use.
Don't forget the space under the dinning bench.  You may have to remove two screws which hold the plywood on but look at the space.  We store paper products and extra water and soda which we might need quick.  Bedding supplies and items which you want stored in the RV but not in the cabinets can go here.
What about under the sofa?  We keep extra bedding there in some type of plastic bags to keep out dust and "dog hair".

Above the sofa is where items that are used each day such as coffee maker, electric fry pan, toaster, printer and tv  DVD and tv SAT units are kept.  Yes a printer.  You will be using it for maps, lists, coupons and many other things you get in your email.  Can you live without a printer at home?

Other indoor storage is above and below sink, range, and ref. units.  Our RV has a pull-out pantry and two small coat storage area near the door.  Along with storage in the steps and near the door.  We have storage in the hallway going to the bedroom and inside of the bathroom.  In the bedroom storage is above the bed and on each side.
I tell people you look for as much storage as you can.  We are lucky that we have lots of inside storage.  In the weeks to come, I will show pictures or video of what we have inside.
Outside is where you store items you don't need today or in the next few days.  Maybe large items such as the table which goes between the two chairs in front (driver/pass).  We have only used this table once, but I never leave home without it.

Our RV has a full across storage in the back of the RV.  Under the queen bed.  Doors are on both sides which makes ease of loading and un-loading large items.  We keep chairs, dog food, TV Sat. dish and containers holding our water hoses and electric lines.  Along with a cable for hooking up the TV service at campgrounds.  I have two five foot sections with a splitter (cable joiner).  Most of the time a five foot TV cable is long enough but we have used the 10 many times.

On the driver side, we have three outside storage units.  One is devoted to drinking water and soda.  I choose not to drink the water at camp grounds where we stay.  We do filter the water for showers and dish cleaning.  It is everyone own choice about drinking the water.  In the other storage areas we keep a variety of items.

We do have an outdoor shower which is useful for doggy shower or just cleaning your muddy shoes off.

The last two areas on the driver side is the "pump out hose" area.  I keep very few items here but space is available for items such as cleaning supplies and RV engine supplies.
The last area house the 4000 watt generator.
On the right side of the RV houses the "outside" TV,  LP tank for filling,  Black and Gray water storage units and a unit under the TV for the leveling jacks pump and our house battery.

Our RV is just 29.2 feet long.  The pictures here show the one slide unit not out.  We will talk about the slider in later weeks.

The picture below show the "pet window" on the pass. side of the RV.  Our dogs just love it.  Sometime the run to the window to get the best location.  I would never get a unit without it.

As we have said, storage area is a must for us.  Lee likes to have almost a full kitchen when traveling.
I included  our floor plan.

Less than a week now so Keep an eye out for  our RV.  The 3 SIRS  will be easy to see on the road.  You can follow us also on our website as well as this blog.  Don't forget to sign up on our website.

Until next time we meet on our journey:
